Portadown

Portadown is a decent sized town in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is one of Northern Ireland’s larger towns. Portadown is on the River Bann in the north part of County Armagh, it is roughly 23 miles south-west of Belfast. The city houses around 22,000 people and council wise, it is in the Craigavon Borough Council.

– Located just outside the town off the Dungannon Road is a Cold War Nuclear Monitoring Bunker in Northern Ireland.
– The Newry Canal (which runs from Portadown to Newry) was the first summit level canal in Britain and Ireland and has 14 locks between its entrance at Carlingford Lough and Lough Neagh.
– The highest numbers of people from Uzbekistan in Northern Ireland live here. Not a bad advert for Uzbekistan Tourism.
